Revolver is a brilliant punchy little book that I
think has been written so elegantly and tidily by Marcus Sedgewick. This short
novel draws the reader in through the device of a capturing first line, the
theme of which is echoed throughout the entire story.
Marcus Sedgewick extends the restricting time-span of the novel by expertly weaving in the past of the characters, revealing subtle hints which help the reader discover why all of the events in the main plot are happening. These ‘flash-backs’ help to break up the main story, leaving some cliff-hangers and dragging the reader in as well, ensuring you read until the next chapter to get back to the action.
I really liked this book due to the way Marcus Sedgewick employs so many wondrous plot devices to make Revolver a witty and rich book, despite being short.
Definitely a great book.
