Revolver is a gripping novel by Marcus Sedgwick. Set in the freezing cold depths of the Arctic Circle, a mysterious story unravels, expertly conceived and written by Sedgwick.
When Sig Andersson finds his father frozen to death on the ice, he realizes something is wrong; his father would never have done something as stupid as that. He is left alone in the cabin, until there is a knock at the door …
After this Sig’s world is turned upside down as he tries to discover what is going on. Sedgwick beautifully blends flashbacks into the story to keep the reader compelled and up to date, yet without giving too much away.
I found this book impossible to put down, despite claims from other critics that it had a most perplexing plot; indeed I thought that it was an ingenious plot, greatly improving my views on Sedgwick as a writer.
I would definitely recommend it – despite the ‘complicated’ plot – to anyone who wants a quick but fascinating read.
