Revolver

Reviewed by Frederick Foley

Revolver is a short novel written by Michael Sedgewick. Even though it is only a short novel the way he focuses time is excellent. It is a witty story with a very catchy and clever plot which deserves applause.

The book's being short has some effect but that effect isn’t really bad: I think that having a short story, the young readers who we are would pick it up straight away.

The book itself is written to perfection. I really like the way that he uses lots of cliff hangers during the book; it really gives it a great atmosphere especially when it sticks to the main plot.

When I picked the book at first I wasn’t too sure. It had a good title but nothing much invited me into the book. But after you read the start of the book and get into it you really just can’t put it down.

Sedgewick also uses the speech of characters very well,  with Hamilton Bowen a metalsmith who uses very clever words: "And, as should be, the revolver is fitted with a lanyard ring."

Overall I give this 8/10.
