Finding Violet Park

Reviewed by James Webster

A boring cab office is the beginning of a story with an interesting story line. Violet Park is an appealing person and the weirdest thing about her is she is dead.

The book is about a fifteen year-old boy named Lucas Swain. He finds Violet in the dead of night in a cab office lying in a back alley in the middle of London.

Luke wants to become good friends with her and he wants to get to know her.

The thing is that his father had gone missing years ago and in becoming friends with Violet he gets to find out much more about what had happened to his father.

They are already much closer together than you would think.

This is a great book: it is motivating throughout. The story line starts off as a rather confusing piece of writing but as you read through it loose ends start to tie up. It is clearly targeted at an audience around the ages of 13–17 because he is a fifteen year-old boy. I would not recommend it for under 12 year-olds but it could be a good read for anyone above the age of 17 as well.

The book is a nice length for a gentle read and it does not drag on. I think overall I would rate it 8/10
