“I met Violet Park after she died. But it didn’t stop me from getting to know her”
Lucas Swain is a weird fifteen year-old who, in a cab office, sees Violet Park. Not in person, but in her own urn. He is amazed at this and decides to try and get to know her; even though she’s dead!
He starts by rescuing her from the cab office. Soon after this, he feels as if Violet is talking to him, giving him the information about how to find out her past.
To add to this, Lucas does not have the greatest family life. His father has been missing for the past five, presumed dead: and his mother is struggling helplessly trying to keep together what’s left of the family.
Later on Lucas finds all about Violet Park and more importantly uncovers the truth about his dad.
I found this book a very poor read. I feel that there should have been a stronger plot. I felt more gripped by the part about Lucas’s father, than by his trying to get to know Violet.
I rate the book a poor 4/10.
