Gatty lives in a small village, in a cow shed. Her parents are dead but she has many friends within the village. She can’t believe her luck when she is asked to go to the Holy Land, but sadly she doesn’t know what troubles she will get in.
This is a spin-off from the author's earlier work on Arthur, which was brilliant, but sadly this novel didn’t grow to be half as good as it, as it lacked real intensity throughout. I could get a bit tired of reading this and so took breaks, so I slightly lost the plot.
I enjoyed the middle section in Venice, but the start and end were a let-down. The start didn’t captivate me at all, it was to slow and not enough description. The end was just terrible, disappointing and wrecked the rest of the book for me.
This book deserves only 4/10 for a letdown beginning and end!
