Crusade

Reviewed by Megan van der Loo

This is a novel about two boys who live two different lives and two different cultures that are bought together by different situations.

Salim is one of these two boys: he is a merchant who lives in the City of Acre, while Adam is a local knight in England.

This is a book where two cultures conflict and lives are changed forever because of the Crusade. Adam leaves England to go to reclaim Jerusalem from Muslims while Salim is forced to leave his family. The two boys in the story meet at different events and help each other change their lives for the better.

This is quite a realistic book in the way that the characters and emotions don’t seem fake and just made-up. To me it seems as if it is the re-telling of real life. As you unfold the plot the book seem to just get better and better. I thought the ending was really good when the two characters came together.

I would rate this 8/10 because overall it was a great book; I wouldn’t say it is the best book for me but I can’t deny that it was good.
