“I will die proud. I will die free. But first I will live and I will fight. I am Apache.”
Siki was in her fourteenth summer when the Mexicans rode against them. Her young brother Tazhi, beloved by all who behold him, was slain as he stood his ground. Swearing revenge Siki decided to follow the path of the warrior: a path which few of the Apache women tread. By doing so she earns a terrible enemy and learns a dark secret.
This book is an interesting read with an insight into the sufferings the Apache people faced as well as showing how they lived. It makes you compelled to feel for Siki as the secrets about her past come back.
I would give this a 8/10.
