Just in Case

Reviewed by Beatrice Vincent

Just In Case tells the story of fifteen-year-old Justin who believes that “fate” is out to get him.

I thought I knew what was coming when I turned to page one; I was dead wrong. This dark, disturbing tale tells of a young man on the brink of insanity, running from an unseen enemy and trying to escape his own fate.

I was glued to this book night and day; my Mum even got a bit worried about the amount of time I spent in my room! Meg Rosoff has managed to blend surreal fiction with brutal reality in a way that entranced and terrified me in this psychologically petrifying read. Just when you get into thinking that Justin is off his head, something makes you think – maybe not.

I know that people prefer reading about people criticising books, and I tried as hard as I could to find fault with this book: but that was impossible! This truly is an incredible book and one that I would highly recommend.
