Just in Case

Reviewed by Angharad John

The view is fine from here. I can look down across the world and see everything.

For instance I can see you.

Just in Case is a book about a boy called David Case who changes his name to Justin Case when he finds out that fate is out to get him. Justin is no ordinary boy. Where ordinary teenagers worry about spots and sports and stuff like that, Justin worries about fate and death: he even changes his whole image to try and hide from fate.

I thought that this book was very good but is some places I found it a bit confusing. I also thought that the ending was a bit weak compared to the rest of the story, which was fantastic. I thought that the ending could have been made better if Meg Rosoff had explained a bit more about what happened to all the characters.

I found that one of the most confusing parts of the story was when Peter, Justin’s friend, could also see Justin’s imaginary dog. The story also switched from one person’s thought to another’s and I found it quite hard to keep track of who was thinking that!

I found that the story was very easy to get into and had a gripping beginning. I found it hard to put this book down even when I got to a confusing bit.

Overall I thought this was an excellent book, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
