Just in Case

Reviewed by Asha Chadeesingh

David Case is a pretty ordinary 15 year-old boy, until one day he decides fate is out to get him. In a desperate attempt to outrun the terrible things chasing him, he changes his image, hobbies and even his name. But if David isn't in control of his life, who, or what, is?

The first chapter of this book, despite being short, was extremely good and got you hooked right away. The story quickly developed, keeping the reader interested. It did, however, require quite a lot of attention, as it got quite confusing in parts. But I did think that the description throughout the book was well written.

This novel has some funny parts, but is mainly quite serious, and I definitely wouldn't say it's a light-hearted read. I thought the last page, however, was fantastic. It left you thinking about the story line for a while after finishing reading it.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good, thoughtful, daring novel.
