Turbulence

Reviewed by Henry Garrett

This book tells the story of Clay a.k.a Clare. I found Clay’s first-person character gripping and very believable. Jan Mark shows that coming up with true characters takes a huge amount of imagination, which he has. I was downheartened when he didn’t use this vast imagination on the plot.

Turbulence is the story of how a real girl is troubled in a very real way. I would have enjoyed the book a lot more had the story had been more twisted. You often watch films and think, this is unrealistic: there's only a one-in-a-million chance that this would happen. But think about it: they only made a film about these people because it did. I know the previous sentence made no particular sense but that is the point.

I found this book a good way to get to sleep but not in a bad way. Although some of the dialogue was poor and unbelievable I give this book 6/10.
