The Scarecrow and his Servant

Reviewed by Ed Lee

Philip Pullman I think has written this book primarily for younger readers. I did not enjoy this book as much as I would have reckoned because of the exciting cover and because the author was well known. It also did not deliver the excitement that I anticipated. The illustrations in this book made it readable but other then that I was deeply disappointed with this book.

The book has a very slow start and does not draw you into the story as well as you would have wished. The book slowly picks up and the rest of the book is reasonable.

My conclusion to this book is that it is clearly aimed at younger readers and bored me at times. Overall I would give it a 5/10.
