This book describes the life of two boys after they find a bag full of money, the catch being that they only have a few days to spend it all. Personally I don’t think that this book compares to others such as The Star of Kazan by Eva Ibbotson and Al Capone does my Shirts by Jennifer Choldenko, but I still think it may have a chance to win the Carnegie medal award.
The cover (I thought) was a little bit plain and personally it wouldn’t stand out to me in a bookshop if I were to walk past it. However this isn’t all bad as it doesn’t give much away about the story – but I still think a little more “glamour” on the cover would’ve helped.
The characters in the story are okay but I think that there is a bit too much mention of Damian’s obsession with saints and this can (for some people) get really quite annoying. I thought that the author had set himself quite a hard task with the story as there isn’t much you write about when asked to describe two boys with millions of pounds. However the author has done very well to add to the story.
This book was quite a good read and I did enjoy it a lot.
