Millions

Reviewed by Liam Doran

This book is 250 pages long and was written by Frank Cottrell Boyce. The front cover does look very plain and boring, but the title Millions, in the centre in bold capital letters, caught my eye more than the other books.

The book is written through the eyes of a very clever boy, called Damien. Damien is totally obsessed with saints and is always talking about them. This gets very annoying and is mentioned too much. His family are going through a hard time after the death of their mother, but their luck changes when Damien and his brother, Anthony, find something which could change their lives.

This book takes a while to get going, but don’t stop reading as it starts to improve and becomes more interesting. It seemed as if the book was going to have an exciting ending, but it finished poorly.

Overall I liked the story, but there was still a lot of room for improvement. I think this book was aimed at people aged around 10–14.
