The Star of Kazan

Reviewed by Vincent Martin

This book has managed to envelope a great number of plots into one.

The beginning, while still grippingly page-turning, took a while for the main plot to take off, although the mini plots substituted perfectly. This book was written by Eva Ibbotson and I don’t know many authors but this book has added another to my list.

The story is about Annika, an orphan from birth, and her life around her teens. While this may sound boring the book keeps you interested and happy all the while you read. It is set in 1908 Austria-Hungary and straight from the start describes the relaxed lifestyle there.

I have enjoyed reading this book and I’m sure many others will. It is a really fantastic book.
