Looking for JJ

“What have you done!”

Michelle was gripping Jennifer’s arm fiercely. She turned to look at her best friend. Her mouth was hanging open in some kind of shock, but her eyes were glittering with excitement.

Looking for JJ is a fantastic book. It’s 299 pages long, each as exciting as the next. It tells the story of 17 year-old Alice Tully (Jennifer Jones), who is determined to put her dark and disturbing past behind her. She has a new identity, with a job and friends, trying to lead a normal life. But Alice’s past could rip her new life to pieces.

The book cover is quite clever but a bit boring. It’s not one that you would notice or take interest in when walking into a large bookshop. It shows three figures cut out from a newspaper, holding hands. One has been torn off. This becomes a great deal more meaningful once you have read the book.

The book is written in four parts, using different identities for the main character although there are flashbacks quite frequently. Rather than being confusing, I find this interesting, and a nice change of pace.

This is a great book and although it would appeal to many readers, I would recommend it to quite a mature audience. Overall I would give this book nine out of ten.
