Each page of this story is a mini poem which is an observation on life from the eyes of a girl called Annie. Annie is 13 years old and she is starting to realise that life is changing around her. The mini poems all add up into one story. You will learn about how she feels about Mad Max, Mrs Obber-Cobber, Grandpa and the longingly-awaited baby. As she observes an apple for her art project, Annie realises that things do change, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.
I think that this book is clever because it uses so many observations to tell a story but I think that her emotions are way too young for her age. She is a 13 year-old girl and she’s calling her mum's new baby an 'alien baby' because it reminds her of an alien. Not many 13 year-olds think like this and this is probably the thought of a 9 year-old. She also goes from a perfectly mild girl to the thought that she wants to punch someone and many times she does punch people, though you do not feel the emotion as to why she wants to punch them.
I would rate this book 4/10 and would not recommend it to people who want a good book to get into.
