I have just finished reading the book Heartbeat written by Sharon
Creech. This book is in a poetic layout, each chapter an individual poem which
links together to tell a story.
I picked this book first as I liked the look of the cover as it was cheerful and appealing, but I have come to learn that the saying, 'Don't judge a book by its cover' is true! As the book wasn't like I thought it would be. I believed it would be a teenage love story which many people could have related to but the story was about a girl called Annie who loves to run and paint; all through the book there are problems and Annie has a hard time but ends up coping with it and it seems to be written only for girls of Annie's age.
However it was very simple, easy to understand, always moving and before I knew it I was nearly finished; but the poem structure was hard to follow and I feel it ruined the actual story.
Overall I would give this book 5/10 and I don't recommend it!
