Heartbeat

Reviewed by Richard Dukes

The book is mainly about running. Every chapter has at least one reference to running. The book is written in poem form with the chapters being extremely short, only a few pages or so. You see through the eyes of Annie, a young girl who always runs barefoot with her best friend Max. Max always tries to persuade her to join the girls' running team but she won’t and will never.

The book I find is not really a page turner: it's more 'I can't wait to finish this book'.

I found it extremely boring and this certainly doesn’t deserve to win.
