After her visit, Malorie Blackman e-mailed the School in connection with our Carnegie-shadowing work:
I'm not on the Carnegie shortlist this year: I was on a while ago for Pig Heart Boy and it was thrilling to be on the shortlist for such a prestigious award. But I have to admit that one of the awards dearest to my heart is the FCBG Children's Book Award, as the winner is voted for by approximately 25,000 children and young adults nationwide. To even get on the shortlist of that award is truly amazing, and to win it – as Noughts and Crosses did in 2002 – well, that was one of the highlights of my year!
