The Kite Rider

Reviewed by Joe Collingwood

The Kite Rider was the third book that I read. At first, from just looking at the first line I was a bit put off because there was the name Gou Hayou staring out at me. However after I spent about ten minutes trying to figure out how to pronounce it the book got better.

Right from the start Geraldine McCaugrean described everything brilliantly. I had a vivid image of Gou and his mother with her pretty looks and of Great uncle Bo but I think the character that she described best was Di Chou.

I also liked this book because it was not too long but it also was not so short that it was finished before it got exiting. Out of all the books that I have read so far I think that this one should win.
