Bristol Grammar School's Carnegie-shadowing, 2002

This is the third year that BGS pupils will be shadowing the Carnegie Award. Interest in the scheme has grown steadily each year and we anticipate even greater numbers than last year (39) when the first meeting is called. By popular request we are extending the age-range to include Year 10s this year as well as Years 8 and 9.

With the publication of the shortlist on 26 April the race will be on to read as many of the titles as possible in the time allotted. The pupils will have every opportunity to meet and discuss which titles they like / dislike and to come up with their own, creative ideas as to how they wish to respond to these books as part of the shadowing scheme. My role will be: to provide the books, positively encourage and actively co-ordinate events. Sharing the enjoyment of the buzz about some of the best books published in 2001 will be an added bonus! We shall, of course, vote on our own favourite – and look forward to hearing the ‘real’ result in July!

We hope that you enjoy all that our website has to offer in 2002.
