Love that Dog

Reviewed by Nick Attwood

Beneath that blazing cover lies a gem, me thinks! Don't judge a book by its yellow cover and that ... Playful, poignant and pithy, I warmed to

Jack
the
boy
and
sky
the
dog ...

Call me an old sentimental poet wannabee, but I liked sensitive Jack - how refreshing that it wasn't a bookish Jill! - and his gathering self-confidence, galvanized by the poet's visit to school...

That
final
long
(leash-like)
strip
of Jack's
poem
made a
fitting
epitaph
to his
canine
companion.

Ok, it's a five minute wonder, but the Carnegie blurbist's 'simple, but life-affirming book' comment summed it up pretty well.
